What is DASH?

DASH (Different Area--Same Hunt) is a one-day, walking puzzle hunt which takes place in several cities across the country on the same day. The next DASH happens on Saturday, April 24th, 2010.

What is a puzzle hunt?

A puzzle hunt (or "treasure hunt") is a fun, interactive event in which teams of players race to find and solve creative puzzles hidden in different locations.  You may have heard of "The Game."  By comparison, DASH is a shorter event, takes place entirely on foot, and features easier puzzles.

How much does it cost?

$30 per team.

How do I register?

Spots will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis using the Google Checkout or PayPal buttons below.  In order to give us enough time to assemble all of the clues, registration will close on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 10 pm.

How big does a team need to be?

Teams can be anywhere from 2 to 6 players, but the recommended team size is 4 players. The entry fee will cover all players on the team.

Need to find more teammates?

Check the forum for help finding more people for your team or if you want to join an existing team.

What kind of puzzles will we be solving?

You can find last year's puzzles (and solutions) on this web site.

Interactive Twitter Puzzle?

Part of what makes DASH exciting, is that you will be participating in a hunt along with hundreds of other teams in ten cities at roughly the same time. Therefore, we would like to introduce an experimental, optional, interactive piece to the hunt that would require someone from your team to use Twitter. Keep in mind, this is external to the actual hunt but just another way to have fun with other teams while you are playing.

In order to participate you will want to:

  1. Follow our Twitter account: @playdash
  2. Tweet to @playdash your city, your team name, (and optionally, your favorite tv show) and add the tag: #playdash to your tweet
  3. Once you search for #playdash you will be able to see who is participating. We encourage you to follow at least one team from each city.

What happens if it rains?

You'll get wet.  Dress for the weather.

Who is the NYC DASH GC?

Matt Selsky of Team Maize and Rich Selsky.

Who do I contact for further information?
