Event takes place at 10:00 AM on May 18.
DASH 5 / May 18 / 10:00 AM / Location / $40 / 3-5 players
Start Time : 10:00 am sharp. Plan to arrive by 9:30 to allow time for sign-in. The event will begin at 10; if you're late, you'll be sad.
End Time : 6:00 pm at the latest. Expect at least 4 hours of walking + puzzling.
Start Location : City Hall Park, in downtown Bellevue (map)
You'll need to bring enough supplies to ensure a comfortable day of walking and puzzling.
Walking : comfortable shoes, water, snacks, suncreen and/or rain gear as needed (let's face it, rain gear is much more likely).
The route will take you somewhere from 2 to 5 miles over the course of the day.
You'll be near places to buy food during at least part of the event, but bringing a few snacks along is certainly a good idea.
There will be a mix of indoor and outdoor locations. Protection from the elements (for both you and the puzzles!) is a must. It's not really the Seattle thing to do, but if (when) it's raining, an umbrella is priceless.
That last point bears repeating. The event runs rain or shine. This is Seattle. If you're not prepared, you and/or your puzzles will get wet.
Puzzling : clipboard, paper, pencils, scissors, tape
It's a puzzling event, so it should be no surprise you want something to write with and something to write on.
Some teams like to bring fancier art supplies: colored pencils, crayons, highlighters, permanent markers, etc. Such items can be handy, but not strictly necessary for this event.
Technology : smartphone with internet access.
You will need a smartphone capable of accessing the internet and scanning QR codes. There will be also one optional activity that requires access to Twitter, and you may need to look up a piece of trivia or two sometime during the day.
DASH is back in Seattle for the 5th time. It's a fun (hopefully) event that takes you (and up to four of your closest personal acquaintences) on foot to a series of puzzle-solving stops. There are 15 cities participating this time, including the first overseas venue.
If you're not quite sure what this DASH thing is all about, check out the FAQ and try some of the puzzles from the previous events.
If that sounds like fun to you (and really, why wouldn't it?), head over to the registration page to sign up.
Teams must have between 3 and 5 players. If you have 6 or more, you should split into two teams, so everyone gets more puzzle time. If it's just you, or just you and a buddy, you should convince someone else to join. If you're having trouble making friends, let us know, and we'll do our best to pair up similarly short-staffed teams.
Registration will start at 5pm on March 31, but there's no need to pounce on the site the second it opens. Our goal is to make sure that everyone who wants to participate gets to play. If there's some reason we can't do that, we'll send out plenty of warning. Once you know you're going to field a team, you can enter your details on the main registration page.
The entry fee for playing the event in this city is $40 per team. Information on how to give us your money will be sent to you after you register.
Can't play on the 18th? You can beta-test! Send us an email and we'll figure out a testing date that works best for all interested beta teams.
Feel free to email us, and we'll respond as soon as is appropriate.
