Event takes place at 10:00 AM on May 18.
The STL DASH 5 will be taking place in the City of St. Louis. The exact starting location will be announced to registered teams two weeks before the event.
The event will start at 10:00am and wrap up around 5:00pm. Experienced teams may finish faster.
Please come prepared for St. Louis's ever-changing weather. You will be walking and puzzling outside for much of the day.
Expect to walk about 3 miles over the course of the day.
What to wear and bring?
--Paper, pens, and pencils are always helpful.
--Scissors, tape, a Sharpie, and a ruler are often helpful.
--Smartphones can come in handy, but if you need to Google something and don't have a smartphone, feel free to ask Game Control for help, and we'll be happy to act as your Google proxy.
--Food and water are highly recommended. A few stops will be near cafes, but puzzling takes lots of energy and you'll want to stay well-fueled. --Cash is also a good idea for buying food if you didn't bring any.
--Good walking shoes.
--Weather-friendly attire. Last year there was some heavy rain in the afternoon even though the forecast was clear. There was also a hailstorm at the end of the day, but that was just a freak of nature.
The STL DASH 5 registration fee will be $40 per team. Payment instructions will be sent to registered teams.
The optimal size for a team is 4 players, but 3-5 players will be permitted. Teams smaller than 3 will be required to combine with another team; teams larger than 5 will be required to split up.
This year's STL DASH is hosted by Patrick Blindauer, a puzzle book editor and freelance puzzlemaker. Visit www.patrickblindauer.com for more info (and free crosswords!).
