How long is the hunt?

The puzzle hunt is expected to last from about 11am to 6:30pm or so. The event will be punctuated by multiple opportunities to eat, use the restroom, etc.

What size do teams need to be?

We highly recommended a team size of 3-5 people, as the puzzles have been designed to be at an appropriate difficulty for that size of team. However, smaller or larger teams will not be excluded. There will be an opportunity at the start of the hunt for lone solvers to meet and form teams on site.

How much does it cost to participate?

The hunt is $40 per team.

How do we register our team?

You can click on the icon on the top of this page to go to the main registation page. Register and indicate Washington, DC as the city in which you will be participating. Please use an email that is regularly checked by a member of your team, so that we can send you important information for the event.

Where, exactly, will the hunt be?

The Washington, DC chapter of this year's DASH will take place in Alexandria, VA. The starting location will be Waterfront Park, right by the Potomac, located near the intersection of Prince St and Strand St. Travel and parking advice coming soon.

What supplies do we need to bring?

We recommend bringing:

  • Pens and/or pencils
  • Scratch paper
  • Sturdy writing surfaces (clipboards, magazines, etc)
  • Scissors & tape
  • Smartphones or other internet devices (not required, but consulting online references will be permitted throughout the hunt)
  • Snacks & water (though restaurants will be nearby)
  • Weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable footwear (worn on your person)
  • Umbrella / sunscreen, as weather dictates
