London, UK

Event takes place at 10:00 AM on May 30, 2015.

DASH (Different Area, Same Hunt) is a day-long puzzle hunt event, running in London for the third year. Teams will compete against puzzlers here and in over a dozen cities elsewhere in the world.

I've never done one of these before... is it hard?

When you sign up, you'll be asked for a team experience level. This year we have puzzle tracks for three levels of team:

  • New Players: If you have never tried DASH, don't do Puzzled Pint, and your puzzle experience is the ones in the newspapers, this is the level for you.
  • Experienced Players: If you have played DASH before, or you're a regular at Puzzled Pint, or you understand the questions on Only Connect, this is the level for you.

How do I play?

  • We have now sold out of spaces. It's just possible that there may be some cancellations, so visit the registration page and leave your details on the wait list. We will contact you if a space becomes available. Otherwise, we welcome you to help run the day.
  • We charge a fee of £25 per team, plus booking fee. This covers materials, room hire, and other expenses for us. Payment will be taken during registration.
  • DASH involves some walking around, puzzles are solved in a number of locations. DASH also happens rain or shine. Bring an umbrella, prepare for all weather, do wrap up.
  • The starting location is a closely-guarded secret, it will be somewhere in central London (Zone 1).
  • The hunt will last 6-8 hours, so you should bring sandwiches, or lots of coupons for local restaurants, or more money to buy food.
  • We bring the puzzles but you must bring the kit! Pens, pencils, scrap paper, and tape are essential. A clipboard is very useful. The few pens we have to loan out will blot your hands and stain your clothes.
  • Also, your team will need one smartphone to play! This is to keep track of your team's progress using ClueKeeper, the software we will use to run the hunt.
  • If you're curious about what the puzzle experience is like, you can look at old puzzles on the DASH website. You can also attend the Puzzled Pint events in April and May - look at for more.
  • We have Twitter: @playdashlondon. Updates show up there!
  • We have an email address: [email protected]. Questions go here!

Help Us

Do you mean, "I'm so excited I want to help somehow!"? That's wonderful! A few ways to help:

Volunteer! You can join our ranks and help run the event on 30 May.

Play test! Our playtest has now taken place, so you'll need a method of travelling back in time.

If you'd like to help, just get in touch by emailing us at [email protected].

Accessibility Statement

We welcome solvers with disabilities. Here's our accessibility information. The course requires about two miles of travel during the course of the day. Some travel is along busy roads. The opening puzzle takes place in an open space with limited seating. Toilet facilities are available at most locations, but not the start. DASH starts and finishes near public transport routes, we do not intend to use transport during this year's event.

Part of the event takes place outdoors, people with seasonal allergies should medicate as normal. The main route passes through bars serving alcohol. Food - sometimes expensive - will be available at most locations; players may prefer to bring their own.

This event is not suitable for players with severe visual or learning impairments. We cannot accommodate non-participant spectators.

Please contact us at [email protected] if your team wishes to avoid bars serving alcohol, or if someone in your team will be using a scooter or wheelchair. We will make arrangements so you can join us.

And contact us with questions we've not covered, or specific changes we can make, so we can work together to make the day enjoyable for all.

Harrassment Policy

We're having no harrassment. At all.

DASH London will provide a day of puzzles for everyone, regardless of performance in the event, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Participants and teams violating these rules may be sanctioned or removed from the event without a refund at the discretion of the organisers.
